Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to the International Association of Counseling Psychology (IACP). These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and IACP regarding your use of our website, services, and membership platform.

Important: By accessing or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

What These Terms Cover:

  • Use of IACP website and online platforms
  • Membership registration and management
  • Access to workshops, certifications, and resources
  • Rights and responsibilities of members
  • Payment terms and refund policies

Eligibility Requirements

To use IACP services and become a member, you must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction

Professional Qualifications

Hold relevant educational credentials in psychology or related fields

Good Standing

No disciplinary actions or ethical violations in professional practice

Accurate Information

Provide truthful and complete information during registration

IACP reserves the right to verify your credentials and reject applications that do not meet our standards.

Membership Terms & Conditions

1. Membership Types

IACP offers various membership categories, each with specific benefits and obligations:

  • Student Member: For enrolled psychology students
  • Associate Member: For early-career professionals
  • Full Member (MACP): For qualified practitioners
  • Fellow Member: For distinguished professionals

2. Membership Duration

Memberships are valid for one (1) year from the date of approval and must be renewed annually to maintain active status.

3. Member Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional conduct and ethical standards
  • Keep contact and professional information up-to-date
  • Pay membership fees on time
  • Comply with IACP Code of Ethics
  • Participate in required continuing professional development (CPD)

User Obligations

As a user of IACP services, you agree to:

Account Security

Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials and notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

Accurate Information

Provide truthful, current, and complete information and update it as necessary

Lawful Use

Use our services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws

Respectful Conduct

Treat other members, staff, and the IACP community with respect and professionalism

Intellectual Property Rights

IACP Owned Content

All content on the IACP platform, including but not limited to:

  • Text, graphics, logos, images, and photographs
  • Course materials, workshop content, and educational resources
  • Software, databases, and technical infrastructure
  • Trademarks, service marks, and trade names

...are owned by or licensed to IACP and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Prohibited: You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works, publicly display, or exploit any content without express written permission from IACP.

User-Generated Content

By submitting content to IACP (comments, forum posts, testimonials), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display such content for operational and promotional purposes.

Prohibited Conduct

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Malicious Activities

Uploading viruses, malware, or engaging in hacking attempts

Impersonation

Misrepresenting yourself or falsifying credentials

Spam & Harassment

Sending unsolicited messages or harassing other users

Unethical Practice

Violating professional ethics or engaging in misconduct

System Interference

Attempting to disrupt or compromise platform security

Content Theft

Unauthorized copying or redistribution of materials

Fees and Payment Terms

Membership Fees

Membership fees are determined by your membership category and are payable annually. Current fees are available on our Membership Page.

Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit/Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Bank Transfer
  • PayPal
  • Other approved payment gateways

Refund Policy

Workshop Cancellations: Full refund if cancelled 14+ days before event; 50% refund if 7-14 days; no refund within 7 days
Membership Fees: Non-refundable once approved, except in cases of duplicate payment or system error

Late Payment

Failure to pay membership fees on time may result in suspension of benefits and eventual termination of membership.

Termination of Services

By You

You may terminate your membership at any time by:

  • Logging into your account and selecting "Cancel Membership"
  • Emailing our support team at support@iacp.global
  • Submitting a written request via mail

By IACP

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in unethical or illegal conduct
  • Fail to pay membership fees
  • Provide false or misleading information
  • Misuse IACP credentials or services
Note: Upon termination, you will lose access to member-only benefits, resources, and your MACP designation (if applicable).

Disclaimers and Warranties

IACP services are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We Do Not Warrant:

  • That our services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • That information provided is accurate, complete, or reliable
  • That defects will be corrected immediately
  • That our platform is free from viruses or harmful components

Professional Advice Disclaimer

IACP provides educational resources and professional development opportunities. Nothing on our platform constitutes:

  • Clinical advice or therapy services
  • Legal, medical, or financial advice
  • A substitute for professional consultation

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IACP shall not be liable for:

Indirect Damages

Loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities

Consequential Damages

Damages resulting from use or inability to use services

Third-Party Actions

Actions or content of other members or third parties

Force Majeure

Events beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, technical failures)

In no event shall IACP's total liability exceed the amount you paid for membership in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

Applicable Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Informal Resolution

Contact us at legal@iacp.global to resolve disputes informally

Mediation

If informal resolution fails, parties agree to mediation before pursuing legal action

Arbitration/Litigation

Unresolved disputes subject to binding arbitration or jurisdiction of Sri Lankan courts
